EA Provides Expert Knowledge At African Energy Conference PDF Print E-mail
At present Africa is experiencing an energy capacity shortage as a result of the dramatic growth of the various economies on the continent coupled with the increased demand for energy. In order for African countries to address the energy challenge, it is imperative that representatives from Governments and the private sector collaborate with one another and share best practices as well as develop innovative and feasible energy solutions that will in turn circumvent the African energy challenge. In light of this, an Energy Solutions for Africa Conference and Exhibition, named ENERGY 09, which is hosted by Siyenza Management will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre, in Johannesburg, South Africa from the 28th- 29th of January 2009.
The energy conference will address issues relating to energy policies and will be influential in allowing African Governments and the private sector to develop energy policies that are targeted at meeting realistic and achievable objectives and to identify attainable energy efficient mechanisms that will be implemented in the near future.
The South African National Energy Association (SANEA) is an endorsing partner of ENERGY 09 and will be a key partner in structuring the agenda for this key business event. SANEA strives to play a pivotal role in the future of energy in South Africa, bringing influential role-players together with a view of identifying and implementing sustainable and effective solutions. SANEA also provides factual, relevant data and knowledge, strengthening the energy network in South Africa and globally, and enhancing awareness of energy issues in South Africa.
SANEA’s membership base consists of corporate organizations and individuals residing within the broad energy sector including companies such as Eskom, BHP Billiton, Exxaro Resources, Sasol, NERSA and Engen. SANEA is also a member committee of the World Energy Council (WEC), a global multi-energy organisation and has member committees comprising of over 90 countries, including large energy-producing and energy consuming countries.
Brain Statham, Chairman of SANEA reiterates, “ the conference will provide an opportunity to leverage off international success case studies to develop solutions for Africa as well as to mobilise opportunities that can respond to  Africa’s challenges. SANEA is ideally positioned to make a significant contribution as the association has a broad South African membership base of organisations and is strategically linked to the other 21 African member countries of the World Energy Council.”
