Errors In The Health System PDF Print E-mail

Though it’s rare that my views surface in any of the local news papers, I hope this time I can share my perception and views that will be of great help to the society as a whole.
With reference to the past news that babies were swapped in one of our hospitals, though the hospital is largely owned by a mission, it is a pity that an error was made by one of highly respected and valued nurses in a valued hospital especially in terms of obstetric and maternity services. With no doubt BLH is a highly graded hospital by care receivers.
The fact that some issues are not sensitively treated, the nursing personnel can try all they want to reach optimal service delivery, the conditions wouldn’t allow. The main problem that the hospital is experiencing is abnormal work load that nurses are facing, let alone the space that daily operations are carried within.
The possibilities are that there is still going to be a lot of errors done by the staff due to the present working conditions. I will as an individual urge the government (MoH) to visit BLH and consult the hospital authorities and review the extra ordinary conditions that so exhaust and demoralize nursing personnel in the hospital. It is also the current situation in some government health facilities, but worse in BLH.
I happen to see the situation almost every day. BLH midwives are just about to give up or collapse due to exhaustion. The authorities should do something about this before fatal errors happen.

Concerned.
