Karate Junior Team Selection |

Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) started the 2008 calendar with a national junior team selection in Francistown over the past weekend to assemble the junior team to represent the country at the upcoming Zone 6 tournament to be held in Cape Town in May. The Francistown selection was the first stage of the junior national team selection for athletes based in the northern region. On the 16th of February, selection will be held at the University of Botswana in Gaborone for the Southern region. The training and selection was open to all athletes aged between 8-17 years. BOKA Pro Ezekiel Seru told Gazette sport that athletes who obtain position 1 to 4 during the regional selection will qualify for the final selection that will be in Gaborone on the 1st of March. “ During the finals, coaches will select a team that will be invited for a camp during the April school vacation and during the camp the final team that will represent the country at the Zone 6 Championships” Explained Seru. Botswana won the overall Zone 6 tournament last year held in Mozambique.
