Premier League Office Robbed. At least money amounting to P50 000 that were paid by teams in the Premier league as transfer fees during the
transfer window was last week stolen at the Premier League Offices at Lekidi Football Centre after burglars broke into the building. Premier League Committee, Secretary Setete Phuthego confirmed the incident saying they were shocked by the break in as there is a security at the football centre. But what could have happened? “I cannot say how the robbers found their way in because there is a security at the Lekidi football Centre. They stole the transfer money and also made away with at least two lab tops through the window which I think they used to get in. For now I cannot say those were the only things that were stolen because I was not in the office on Thursday,” he said. He said they have reported the matter to the police who are still investigating. It is not clear why the thieves targeted the premier league office. He would not be drawn into disclosing the amount that was stolen saying he is yet to confirm as he was not in the office last week. Efforts to get comment from Botswana Football Association Chief Executive Officer, Mr Tosh Kgotlele proved futile as he was reported to be locked up in a meeting. Central Police Station Superintendent Takongwa Mazwiduma also confirmed the incident saying it happened last week and no one has been arrested in connection with the incident. “We have not arrested anyone in connection with the incident. The incident took place last week and money amounting to at least P50 000 and two laptops are said to have been stolen from the office and our investigations are still ongoing,” he said.
