DUNCAN KGANGKENNA Vikings emerged the champions of the annual Bridgestone Ladies Softball Tournament. The Gaborone based team won the tournament for the second time after winning it for the first time four years ago. One of the senior players in Vikings team Boitshepo Mooki said she is delighted at having been part of the winning side. She said they proved to everyone that Vikings went into the tournament to compete and not just to participate. “People must take us seriously because we are always determined to prove our mettle,” said Mooki. Mooki said they won the tournament in style. She said to have beaten Wells and Bears added cherry on top of the cake. The modest Mooki said the games were very tough, however. Vikings advanced to the finals after thrashing Bears 4-0 and beat Wells 2-1 in the final. The final game was stopped after the fourth innings due to rain and had to be decided on the completed innings according to softball play rules and regulations. The third innings were used and Vikings won 2-1 to pocketed P6, 000 and a trophy while the runners-up got P5, 000. Third and fourth places went to Bears and BDF, thereby pocketing P4, 000 and P2,500 respectively.
